Indonesia offers tourists a heady mix of culture and the coast. Islands and beach resorts round the country like Bali, Lombok, Irian Jaya, offer great natural beauty, recreational activities including water sports and a spot for relaxation.
Indonesia boasts of a spectacular nature trail. Sightseeing, hiking, climbing and trekking are great options. Some of the more spectacular sights include Mount Bromo and Semeru, Ijen Plateau, Mount and Lake Batur, and the Puncak Pass.
History and culture exist in tandem in Indonesia. A visit to the ancient mosques, churches, Hindu and Buddhist temples as well as palaces and ruins, is a must. Visit the ancient Hindu temples of Prambanan and the Dieng Plateau, the Taman Sari (Water Castle) and Palace of Sultans in Surakarta and Medan. Head to the towns of Tana Toraja, Semarang, Borobudur, Bali, Damau Toba (Sumatra), Kota (Jakarta) and Java.
