Indonesia is a land of festivals. The country celebrates its Independence on 17 August with air shows and parades in the city and traditional boat races in the interiors.
The holy month of Ramadan ends in a great feast, Hari Raya Puasa. In January, the country celebrates the Lomban Festival which sees fishermen making offerings to the Sea. The festivities are marked by processions and boat races. In March, Indonesians make way to Kasada, a volcanic mountain, to pay tributes to their ancestors. It is an important event in the local Muslim calendar.
In Bali, join the Galungan ceremony, with the vibrant Hindu processions in welcoming the New Year. Also, the Bali Arts Festival every June offers a glimpse into the vibrant Bali way of life. The Dragon Boat Festival every December witnesses participants from across the globe.
