Soekarno Hatta International Airport is situated in greater Jakarta on the island of Java in Indonesia.
The airport was named after the 1st President of Indonesia namely Soekarno and started operating in the year 1985 after the former Kemayoran Airport and Halim Perdanakusuma International airports closed its operations.
The airport has two terminals, one for domestic flights and the other for international flights. The airport was designed by a French architect namely Paul Andreu, who incorporated the local vernacular architecture in the structure and tropical gardens between the waiting lounges.
The airport has beautiful landscapes and was gifted the Aga Khan award in 1995 for its architecture. The airport has 150 check-in counters, 42 gates and 30 baggage carousels.
The other facilities offered are internet cafes, tourist information center, banks, ATMs, hotel and taxi bookings, lost and found, shops and galleries, prayer rooms, medical care and more.
There are 4 lounges along with business and transit lounges in the departure areas. There are shuttle buses, taxis and car rentals available for the transportation of passengers.
