Medan can be described as a city located in Indonesia. It’s also capital of province of ‘North Sumatra’.
Having stood in northern portion of North Sumatra along coastline, Medan enjoys the pride of being the 3rd biggest city all over Indonesia. This city has been bounded by ‘Deli Serdang Regency’ on the eastern, western, and southern side; along with ‘Strait of Malacca’ on the northern side.
There are several ancient buildings within Medan which still go on to retain Dutch architecture of theirs. These are inclusive of central Post Office, old City Hall, Water Tower (icon of Medan city), and ‘Titi Gantung’, i.e. a bridge upon the railway. Medan is the 3rd most densely populated city all over Indonesia; just after ‘Jakarta’ and ‘Surabaya’. The population comes out to be 2.5 million.
Apart from Indonesian, Batak Karo, Batak Simalungun, Batak Pak-Pak, Javanese, Tamil, Acehnese, English, and several other languages get spoken.
