Mashhad: Attractions and more...
The visit to Mashhad means a visit to the holy shrine of Imam Reza which has been attracting pilgrims like a magnet. The museum close to the shrine holds some of the most artistic and extensive treasuries in England. There is a large university named the Ferdowsi University which is also well known. A typical structure of a Muslim learning centre, the Madrassa is also present since the last 400 years. Apart from the Imam Reza shrine there are countless parks, tombs and cultural attractions, whose beauty is undefined. Then there is the Koohestan Park-e-Shadi Complex that houses a zoo that includes a large variety of animals. Several funfairs are held here that attract a lot of children from far and wide. With religion taking the lead, the leisure is not far behind. There are summer resorts at Torogh and Akhlmad. A public bath which was created almost 600 years ago called the Shah Public Bath still exists as a museum.
