Qazvin can be described as the biggest city as well as capital of ‘Province of Qazvin’, Iran.
Qazvin lies at the distance of 165 Km on the north-western side of Tehran. It’s at the altitude of around 1800 meters from sea level. Moreover, it’s a city with cold; at the same time, dry climate; thanks to it being located on the southern side of rugged ‘Albortz’ range.
Qazvin had been location of previous capital of Persian Empire. It contains around 2000 archaeological and architectural sites. The present scenario is such that it’s the provincial capital, as stated above; which has been important from the cultural point of view since time immemorial.
Archaeological excavations of Qazvin can be traced back to 9000 years. It also contains 23 castles; that too, from Ismaili Assassins.
The population as of 2005 was 331409.
After emergence of Islam, many religious schools and mosques came up in Qazvin.
