Tourist Guide Qom
Qom lies at the distance of 156 Km (by road) on southwestern side of Tehran. Moreover, it’s Qom province’s capital. This place stands along the banks of Qom river.
Qom has been considered to be amongst the holiest cities of Shia Islam; the reason being site of shrine of ‘Fatema Maesume’; i.e. sister of ‘Ali ibn Musa Rida’. Moreover, Qom is the biggest center with regards to Shia scholarship all over the world. Also, it’s an important destination relating to pilgrimage.
On Qom’s southeastern side, Kashan, an age-old city lies. On the southern side, towns such as Mahallat, Delijan, Jasb, Kahak, and Baraq lie. The region on Qom’s eastern side is populated by Ashtian, Saveh, and Tafresh.
Cultural Organization of Iran has listed 195 sites signifying culture and history of Qom.
The population as per 2005 census was 1042309. Shias visit this place at least once in a year.
