Zanjan can be described as capital of ‘Zanjan Province’ of Iran.
Zanjan lies at the distance of 186 miles on the north-western side of Tehran upon main highway towards Turkey and Tabriz. Moreover, it lies at an approximate distance of 90 miles from Caspian Sea.
Zanjan has gained reputation with regards to seedless grapes. It is also known for gorgeous handcrafts like knives, conventional sandals known as ‘charoogh’, and ‘Malileh’. ‘Malileh’ can be described as a ‘handcraft’ consisting of ‘silver wires’.
Zanjani artists produce several things such as decorative dishes along with special covers. They are also masters in making silver jewelry. During the ancient times, this place was well-known with respect to its sharp and stainless knives. This tradition, however, is slowly becoming extinct; thanks to emergence of Chinese knives in market that seem to be much cheaper, abundant, and, by all means, less artistic.
