Yad Vashem, established in 1953, is Israel's official memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

It is a large complex that is situated at the foot of Mount Herzl. It houses memorial chambers, a history museum, a library, outdoor commemorative sites, a synagogue, an educational centre and art galleries.

The Holocaust History Museum emphasizes the individual experiences of the victims through original artefacts, personal possessions and survivor testimonies while the Art Museum displays a significant collection of Holocaust art.

The Library consists of thousands of periodicals and has a total of 112,000 books in several languages.

The International School for Holocaust Studies consists of a modern multimedia centre, 17 classrooms, an auditorium, resource and pedagogical centres and is staffed by 100 educators.

The International Institute for Holocaust Research supports and coordinates research, publishes a variety of important works and organizes conferences.
