West Jerusalem consists some of the parts of the city of Jerusalem which got captured by Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. At present, this neighborhood is the west neighborhood of Jerusalem. It was populated primarily by Jews, and came under the Israeli rule. Arabs living here like in Katamon or Malha were forced to leave. At present, this neighborhood has mind boggling collection of picturesque neighborhoods, cultural establishments and educational institutions. Also, now, people living here are black coated Jews. The Mount of Remembrance is the most memorable complex here.
