The Independence Hall Museum is the former home of Meir Dizengoff, the first mayor of Tel Aviv. This is also the place where Israel’s independence was proclaimed in 1948. At the front desk of the museum, the English text of the document is also there. One can see the pictures along with memorabilia from the event which adorns the walls. Moreover, one can also listen to the original record of the declaration speech. This historic building was restored in 1978 and was preserved as it was on the evening of the declaration. The Bible House is upstairs and is a separate museum featuring works of art and archaeological works.
