Kawasaki: Attractions and more...
This museum covers a vast region and displays around 20 conventional Japanese houses; which date right from late seventeenth century. One wouldn’t find the museum all that crowded. It’s just a twenty-minute walk from ‘Mukogaoka-yuen station’ on ‘Odakyu Line’ from Shinjuku. One can also make use of the road which takes 20 minutes to have reached the above-mentioned museum. The starting destination is ‘Noborito’, on JR Nanbu Line.
Events
Kanamara Masturi is amongst the best-known events in Kawasaki. It gets held on 1st Sunday in the month of April. This event, better called ‘Iron Penis Festival’, has been hijacked somewhat by transvestite community of Tokyo and foreign tourists. They make up around 50%25 of audience. As such, this is an event to attend! Temple-floats (penis-laden) get paraded down Kawasaki streets and people get sloshed.
