Nagano: Attractions and more...
Nagano is a city of culture as well as adventure sports. This city has preserved some very ancient and important memoirs of its times. For e.g., consider the Zenko-ji which is an ancient temple. Near to this temple, the historic site where the battle of Kawanakajima was fought has been retained as a park, and also has a museum that contains the history of the Zenkoji plain. Matsushiro is a town containing many historic elements like Samurai residences, the typical garden and the ancient temples which are a replica of the feudal period. There is also good scope for people who love snow-sports. The M-wave is one such place supporting snow skating with a king sized wooden suspension roof that is also the worlds largest. It also displays the much talked about Aqua Wing Area. A visit to the village of Lizuna is also an enjoyable experience as it provides skiing and a very interesting mountain slide ride. The largest ski resort in Japan is also nearer to this city, its name is Shiga Kogen and it is famous for its Snow Monkeys.
