Okinawa World
Okinawa World is a theme park where one is enticed due to the Gyokusendo Cave that has some interesting stalactite and stalagmite formations and has a length of 890 meters. There is a tourist village above the cave where one can find restaurants, shops that sell snake liquors and crafts and some performances of traditional dance. There exists a Habu snake exhibition where one can view a snake and mongoose show. There are separate charges for viewing the cave, village and snake exhibition.
Okinawa Peace Park
There are many memorials pertaining to the Battle of Okinawa at the Okinawa Peace Park. The Okinawa Peace Memorial Hall can be recognized by a high tower and it displays exhibitions of Japanese artists and has a Peace Memorial statue. The Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum depicts describes the battle of Okinawa. The Peace Park overlooks the ocean and has many open air memorials. The Cornerstone of Peace has walls made of granite in the shape of waves and on both sides of these walls the names of those who died in battle are engraved.
Himeyuri Peace Museum
In 1945, during the battle of Okinawa, students and teachers worked as field nurses and these were collectively called as Himeyuri (red lily). The Himeyuri Peace Museum depicts the lives of Himeyuri before and during the battle from a personal angle. Most of them died in the battle. Visitors visiting this place get to know of the tragedy and pray for peace.
