Tourist Guide Hamamatsu

Hamamatsu is a city placed in the western region of the Shizuoka Prefecture, in Japan, and is also the largest city in that particular prefecture. Recently the city underwent a major merger with the surrounding eleven villages and towns, thus forming a great structure of what it today is. Hamamatsu consists of flat land and also the Mikatahara Plateau in the south, and completes its geography with a mountainous area in the north.

The lake Hamana and the Tenryu River are its major fresh water sources. The climate of southern Hamamatsu is very mild with just a little snow in the winter. However, it is a bit windy in the winters, thanks to a season called as the ‘Dry Monsoon’ which is unique to this part.

Northern Hamamatsu faces a harsher climate due to the foehn winds. The heat can go up to 35 degrees in the summers.  Formed by the merger of many important cities and also being the hub of political activities, this place has gained a lot of importance in recent times.
