Hiroshima is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture and the largest city of the
Chugoku Region, the most western region on Honshu: Japan's main island. About
one million people live there.
Following to the drop of the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945, about 200,000 civilians
lost their lives, and Hiroshima became a city engaged in the promotion of peace.
