Nagano is a city of Nagano prefecture and also the capital of it. It is formed at the confluence of the rivers Chikuma and Sai. It is placed on the Island of Honshu which is a one of the main islands of Japan. This is a widely spaced area and covers an area measuring 737.86 sq. km. as seen in a latest census result, the estimated population here is around 378,059. The climate here is cool, but there is a lack of extremities which gives the locals a favorable atmosphere. A bit of snow in winters is observed in this city. Previously Nagano was an old town in the Kamiminochi District and was built around the town temple but later on the town was merged with many surrounding locations and now this place encompasses locations under Hanishina, Sarashina and many others. The city developed highly on the political front and slowly absorbed the municipalities of the neighboring Sarashina District. The city is well connected to all capitals either by road, rail or air, the nearest airport being the Matsumoto Airport.
