Shibuya109 is a famous fashion shopping centre located in Shibuya region of Tokyo. In Japan, 109 in Japanese are pronounced as ‘to kyu’ this is where the building has derived its name. The centre is filled with many trendy clothing boutiques. It is the most popular place amongst youngsters. The place is famous as the origin of the kogal subculture which was known for wearing platform boots, a miniskirt, and copious amount of makeup, artificial suntans, hair coloring and designer accessories. The interior of the building is designed to move shoppers in a loop on each floor from the elevators past various shops. The centre has originally targeted at the women in their 30s.
