Harajuku refers to the area around Tokyo’s Harajuku station, situated between Shinjuku and Shibuya on the Yamanote line.
Harajuku is a fashion capital of the world, renowned for its unique street fashion. Many prominent designers and fashion ideas have sprung from Harajuku and incorporated themselves into other fashions throughout the world.
Harajuku is a large shopping district which includes big international brands, its own brands and shops selling affordable clothes for young people. The area has two main shopping streets, Omotesando and Takeshita Street. Takeshita Street caters to youth fashions and consists of many small stores selling visual kei, Gothic Lolita, rockabilly, punk and hip hop outfits. It also has fast food outlets where people can enjoy shopping and also taste delicious Japanese foods.
It is also a prime location and meeting point for young people across Japan.
