Yokohama: Where is, history and other tourist information to visit this place.

Tourist Guide Yokohama

Yokohama is located in the Kanto Region of the main island of Honshu and is the capital of Kanagawa Prefecture. Yokohama’s estimated population of 3.6 million makes it the largest city in Japan. It covers an area of 437.35 km2 and is one of the major ports of Japan.

It is also a main commercial hub of the Greater Tokyo Area. The chief industries here are biotechnology, semiconductors and shipping. Nissan will move it’s headquarters from Tokyo to Yokohama.

The city has an uncomfortable summer with extreme humidity and very high temperatures. The brisk but not savagely cold winters are a relief. Early spring sees heavy snowstorms which melt away quickly. The sunniest season with the cleanest air is the winter season. Standing in the centre of the city, you can even see Mount Fuji from a tall building. Rain falls in early summer and early winters. The city is never without outdoor blossoms.
