Madaba is a small village located about 30 kilometres to the southwest of Amman. It's an amazing village, where  the arabic culture can be breathed and almost touched. For sure, it's one of the main attractions in Amman, as the capital city of Jordan has not so much to offer to tourists.

Madaba is known worldwide for the significant sixth century Byzantine mosaic map that describes the holy sites of Jerusalem.

Actually, Madaba is also referred to as the city of the mosaic, whereby numerous mosaics from the 5th, 6th and 7th centuries are to be found in Madaba’s churches and homes.

The mosaics can also be viewed in the museums of Madaba. The museum in the city houses a collection of artefacts from ancient Roman remains and Byzantine churches.

The city’s most famous mosaic is located in the Church of St. George. The Mosaic Map of Palestine represents the Holy Land and its surrounding regions.

Among the items visible on this find are The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Jordan River, al-Quds, Nablus, al-Khalil, Ariha.
