Reviews Mount Nebo
Mount Nebo
Mount Nebo is a thousand meters High Mountain and is situated to the northwest of Amman in Jordan.
This mountain is of importance from the point of view of Christianity as it is believed that Moses saw the Promised Land from here before he died.
This land has thus held importance for Christians for more than sixteen hundred years. It is here that Byzantine mosaics of the early church have been discovered and a modern but simple church has been built over them.
From Mount Nebo one gets fascinating views of the northern shores of the Dead Sea, the Promised Land, the Mount of Olives, the dark strip of the Jordan River and Jericho which is on the opposite bank.
On the summit of the mountain is a modern sculpture of Moses’ staff and Jesus’ words inscribed by an Italian artist.
Mount Nebo is also called as Siyagha or the Moses Memorial Church.
