The holy month of Ramadan, is observed strictly throughout Jordan. The entire month sees people fasting from sunrise till sundown and prayers being offered five times a day. During the day, most restaurants and food stalls remain shut, opening only after sunset. The holy month ends with Eid al- Fitr celebrations.
The Amman Dead Sea Ultra Marathon takes place every year in April. It is one of the most gruelling marathons in the world. May witnesses the Jordan Motor Rally.
Every year in July–August, the country celebrates the Jerash Festival. A host of cultural and literary events like ballets and classical music performances take place against the spectacular backdrop of the ancient ruins of Jerash.
The wild Distant Heat Dance festival takes place in July over two days and at two locations, in the desert and by the beach.
