Tripoli: Attractions and more...
Qal’at Sinjil, the Citadel of Tripoli is a major attraction. It has an octagonal Fatimid converted to a church which is the castle’s main feature. Due to the location of the Al-Muallaq Mosque on the second floor, it is also called the 'hanging mosque'. The steps lead down to a fantastic courtyard garden.
Tripoli also offers you a visit to the public bathing-house, of which the only one functioning is the Hamman-el-Abed. The interior has been converted to a living museum.
Hammam Al Jadid is the largest hammam of the city with a grandeur that will stir your imagination.
The Lion’s Tower is one of the towers during Mamluke times, which is still well preserved. It is named so because of the lions carved at the entrance.
To the south is the Qalamoun, known for its Brass industry, where brass objects are carved out using old fashioned methods at the roadside. Do not miss the offshore islands, that is Rabbit’s Island.
