Clocktower - Downtown Beirut

Beirut is a city with rich history that goes back more than five thousand years. It’s history and culture are well manifested in its architecture.  After the destructive Civil War, the city has been rebuilding itself at a good pace; damaged structures are being renovated and restored. One of these is the prestigious Ottoman Clock Tower located near the Grand Serail in Downtown Beirut city.

The Clock tower was originally built in 1994 and was renovated and restored to its current condition only relatively recently in 1994.  It is a large imposing structure honed from grey stone and it is easy for the tourist to see why it has played a defining role in the local architecture. It is not perhaps going to be the highlight of any trip to Beirut but all the same it is well worth seeing.

Getting to downtown from other parts of Beirut or one of the bus stations is easy. Simple hop in any taxi/Service and ask for either "Downtown" or "Solidere".
