For most of its food, fresh water and energy imports the city depends on China. But on the other hand Macau exports many raw materials and capital goods and the European Union and Hong Kong are the main suppliers.

Macau is characterised by tropical Monsoon climate with cool and humid winters and hot and rainy springs and summers.
