The public transportation is not very well organized around the city though there are buses that ply anywhere in the city. A bus travel to the airport from city center costs around RM 4. The taxi ride within the city of George Town cost around RM 10-20 while one can also rent a taxi on hourly basis.

The trishaws charge around RM 30 per hour. The tourist may also rent a motorbike to get around the city. The shops renting motorbikes can be found along Penang Road and the Chulia Street.
