The Buddha temple of Wat Chayamangkalaram is popular for the gold plated reclining Buddha Statue. The 33 meter long statue is the third largest Buddha statue in the world.
The 1845 built Thai temple possesses a spacious rectangular hall. The exterior as well as the interior of the temple possesses carved colorful images. The images mainly include floral designs and figures of legendary characters.
Visitors can view enormous number of weird looking statues of animals and devils mentioned in the Thai legends.
The temple premises are filled with smaller shrines of several other Thai deities. At the entrance of the temple, visitors can see tall statues of temple guards. Colorful dragon figures are common in this temple.
The devotees offer a local delicacy called laska to the shrine of the first monk of this temple. Monks used to love this delicacy and hence, the custom was set to offer this dish to the monk's shrine.
