George Town is known as a shopper’s paradise and has a range of diverse shops located conveniently in and around the city. Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak (KOMTAR) is one of the biggest shopping complexes in the city situated in the heart of Georgetown. KOMTAR offers amusement arcades, shops, department stores, boutiques and fast food outlets.
The Gurney Plaza is another classy shopping mall housing 12 cineplexes, RedBox Karaoke and plenty of options to shop. The Little Penang Street Market is held on the last Sunday of every month. The market offers an excellent place for visitors to buy silverware, hand-made jewellery, calligraphy, portraits and seashell art.
The market aims to promote the culture, local arts and provides a platform for local artist.
