Kota Mahsuri: It is a very interesting place that you will ever forget. It is situated just 12 km from Kuah. The name of this place originated from the name of the beautiful lady Mahsuri. When her husband was not present, she was charged under the offence of adultery and was sentenced to death by her own father in law who was the ruler of Langkawi during that period. She was innocent and when she was taking her last breath, she cursed the island of Langkawi that there will be no peace on this island for the next seven generations.
