Masjid Jamek is a place where visitors can feel the spirituality of Malaysia.

Sultan of Selangor opened this masjid or mosque for the public in December 1909.

The beautiful structure stands proudly in the city, as it is the only surviving mosque from the olden days. The masjid is located on the top of Sungai Gombak and Sungai Kelang.

The design of the mosque is derived from the mogul mosque located in North India. It was designed by a British architect named, A.B. Hubback.

The elegant mosque possesses Moorish architecture. A similar architecture can be seen in the building of Sultan Abdul Samad, which stands of the banks of the River Klang.

The mosque is believed to be the origin of Kuala Lumpur. The white colored mosque building looks pretty with a lush green background. The visitors are made to follow certain rules about appearance and time before entering the mosque.

Following this, one should not miss any opportunity to see this masterpiece of architecture.
