The land of Langkawi is blessed with countless number of natural marvels. Black Sand Beach is one of them. Generally, the sand becomes black when it originates from a volcanic irruption.

However, the black sand on this beach in Langkawi is the result of the hot springs nearby. The high level mineral contents of this hot spring have changed the color of this sand. Moreover, the sand is not uniformly black, but looks like sand mixed with little quantity of charcoal.

Besides this natural wonder, the beach offers a spectacular view of the greenish blue sea water. The beach is enclosed by mighty hills and mountains. Visitors can make a comfortable accommodation at numerous resorts and hotels on the beach.

The beach overlooks some small islands which are located in the sea at a short distance from the main land of the beach. Winter season is the ideal time to visit this Black Sand beach. In this period, one can see the black sand glowing in the sunlight.
