Tanjung Rhu is located on the northeast section of Langkawi. This place is famous for the exotic beaches of the Langkawi Island. Tanjung Rhu means Casuarinas Cape.
This area received its name from the casuarinas palms that can be seen across the beach. Visitors can also see these palm trees bordering the roads which lead to the Tanjung Rhu area. The beach is magnificent and safe as well. The peculiar curved bay and Tanjung Ayer protect this beach from strong currents.
The sandy beaches and greenish blue water of the bay are the key features of this area. Tanjung Rhu is dotted with several 5- star resorts. Visitors can spend a leisure time overlooking the splendid beauty of the surrounding area from these resorts.
One can see several isles in the bay adjoining the main land of the beach. Out of these, Pulau Kelam Baya, a twin shaped isle is a famous spot. Due to the mesmerizing beauty of this place, Tanjung Rhu was given the status of World Geopark by UNESCO.
