Langkawi International Airport is an important airport in Malaysia. The airport has an easy access from major cities such as, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
The airport was opened in 1987. The famous seaside resort of Pantai Cenang and Kuah town are located at close proximity from this airport.
Earlier, this airport featured only a small runway for the landing of small and private planes.
However, after spending MYR 90 millions, this small airport has been converted into a luxurious airport offering world class facilities.
Some of the major international airlines connected with the airport are, AirAsia, Thai AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Silk Air.
The Malaysian Airline connects to cities like Singapore, Johor Bahru, Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
The airport houses a world famous Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace museum.
Some of the latest technologies in these two fields can be seen in this exhibit. All the major tourist attractions in Langkawi can be easily accessed from this airport.
