If tourists want to hear some of the best legends in Langkawi, they must visit the Mahsuri's Tomb. Mahsuri was an ill fated maiden in Langkawi. She was killed despite her innocence, by her own father in law.

However, when she was taking her last breath, she cursed the town. According to her curse, the town would remain barren for 7 generations. The local residents believe that the legend is true, as the town remained unknown to the outside world for seven generations.

This resulted in poverty and lack of food for that much period. The town came to light recently, which encouraged tourism here. Thus, the town has started flourishing once again.

Visitors can see the tomb of the legendry maiden here and experience the effect of the legend as well. The complex around the tomb features a traditional Malaysian architecture. The museum here exhibits the details about Mahsuri and her descendants.
