Gunung Mat Cincang is a stunning range of mountains located near Datai Bay. The mountains are popular and are the highest peaks in Langkawi. It is also Malaysia's oldest rock formation, which dates back to 2, 400 million years.
Similar to other natural spots in Langkawi, this mountain is also surrounded by several myths and legends. As per the local folklore, Gunung Mat Cincang was a human being, which later got converted into a rock. This is how the mountain of Gunung Mat Cincang originated.
Besides the legends surrounding the mountain, tourists are attracted toward it due to its mesmerizing beauty. The Gunung Mat Cicang peak is adjoined by another 800 meters tall Gunung Raya peak.
Tourists can experience breathtaking views sitting in the cable car, which is recently installed here. It consists of 35 gondolas, each of which accommodates 6 people. The cable car stops at two stations which are a few kilometers away from each other.
