Chinatown is an area in the city of Melaka, where tourists can see a typical Chinese culture. The Chinatown in Melaka is located on the western side of the river.
The streets of the market are dotted with several mosques, temples and shops representing the Chinese culture. However, tourists can see a blend of the Chinese and Malay culture here which is known as the Baba Nyonya culture.
The streets of Chinatown hold several Baba Nyonya artifacts. Visitors can buy these antiques at reasonable prices if they know how to bargain well. Chinatown is not restricted only to shopping.
The streets of Chinatown also host the oldest temple in the region. This is the temple of Cheng Hoon Teng which dates back to 1646. The temple was constructed in a typical Chinese architectural style.
