The many shades of blue and turquoise water offers rich underwater life, seldom seen elsewhere on our planet.
An ideal tropical holiday destination, it is famous for its sunny beaches and crystal clear and clean waters.
The pearl necklace of the Indian Ocean, Maldives is 1,190 islands lying close together in the Indian Ocean.
Male is the capital, a small island located in the middle of this string of pearls. Male does not have natural beaches but has a man-made beach area instead.
An adjacent breakwater stretches all the way round to the harbour on the southwest of the island.
The man-made beach forms a nice long stretch for walking or jogging when a cool breeze blows or in the evening time.
The waterfront on the northern side of Male is the main hub for trade, with a line of well stock shops offering a variety of goods.
