The Kaesong History Museum, which houses a variety of ancient relics and other cultural artefacts, is a must-visit for history buffs. Other historic sites like the Chomsongdae, Kaesong Nam Gate and Anhwa Temple are equally interesting.
The Nam Gate, also called the South Gate, was a part of a citadel which was built in 1392. This gate is a reminder of the historic Korean War. Nearby the Nam Gate is the Students and Children’s Palace, which is an entertainment area for children.
Among the various temples built in ancient Kaesong, the Kwanum Temple and the Anhwa Temple are the existing reminders of the glorious past. The monuments and pagodas here exhibit the brilliant plastic art practiced in the era.
Also, the Sonjuk Bridge is a small, scenic bridge which dates back to 1217. The bridge is an important historic landmark. The Kaesong Observatory, the royal palace of Manwoldae, the Pakyon Falls and the Panmunjom are other fascinating sites.
