This is the highest mountain in Oman which extends to a height of 2,980 to 3,075 meters and the highest point is the summit of Jabal Shams. Jebel Akhdar is part of the Al Hajar Mountain ranges in Oman. In Arabic the name Jebel Akhdar means ‘The Green Mountain’ and is also known as the camel’s hideout. This range of mountain is mostly deserted with slight precipitation at higher levels. In the summer people come here to take in the fresh air and the breathtaking views.
