This is a huge area of white and red sand, 140 kilometers by 80 kilometers, with dunes rising as high as hundred and fifty meters. There is a variety of vegetation and terrains found here with a scattering of Bedouin camps and herders wandering from one waterhole to another. Wahiba Sands lies around three hours from the city of Muscat and it is difficult to drive across the Wahiba Sands without stopping for a break.
