Tourist Guide Butuan
Butuan lies in north-eastern portion of ‘Agusan Valley Mandanao’, on the banks of Agusan River. This place has been bounded by Agusan del Norte on the southern, western, and northern side; and on the eastern side by Agusan del Sur. On the north-western side, it’s bordered by ‘Butuan Bay’.
The name ‘Butuan’ has been believed to be derived from ‘Butuan’ one of the sour fruits. The other sources pertaining to entymology infer that this word has come from some ‘Datu Buntuan’; i.e. a chieftain ruling over Butuan once upon a time.
The city of Butuan’s total area consists of 10816.62 sq. Km; which accounts to around 4.1%25 of caraga region’s total area.
The population has been estimated to be 300000; with its density being 367 per square kilometer. This density is much higher in comparison with average density; which is 101 persons per sq. Km.
