Cebu City is located in the central eastern part of Cebu Province, an island
at the heart of the
Visayas in Southern Philippines.
Many changes occurred to Cebu City during the centuries: from a sleepy fishing
village to a fledging trading port in 1521, from the first Spanish settlement
named Villa del Santisimo Nombre de Jesus in 1575 to a municipality in 1901,
Cebu finally became a chartered city on February 24th, 1937.
Cebu City is the first and the oldest city in the country, ante-dating Manila
by 7 years, and is the cradle of Christianity in the Far East.
Today Cebu City is at the same time the main resort of the Visayas, the most
densely populated island, a great commercial centre with an international harbour
and the Philippine’s second city.
The Mactan-Cebu International Airport, located in Lapu-Lapu City, is only a
twenty-minute drive away from Cebu City.

I dont know but Cebu City has been very harsh on me or its just me. Cebu City should be like Singapore where there is very good proportion between humans and trees. I think its a law in their country that there should be more trees than people. I heard that 1 person is to 20 trees is the proportion if I'm not mistaken. I love that idea. Singaporeans are really responsible.

Just be early wherever u want to go coz traffic is such heavier u know.. and also just be thankful that u came home safe and secure; there were many pnp personel just around the corner and standby at there respective post that when ever u need them there always protect and serve the community heartily and no benefits of the dought....thanks to them

In the Philippines you always have to be careful, just be mindful of whats around you. I have been traveling there for years and not had any issues. just do a little research about where you are heading. Avoid Davao all together. it is not American friendly. Just have a good time and don't act like an a typical American.

Nice place for R & R Entertainment wise is very enjoyable. Cost of spending is average depending from where u come from. Places of interest depends what u looking for or what u likes. For food yes they r cheap n afforable. Citizens r friendly which makes ur stay plesant n makes u wanting to spend longer holidays there.

Dirty, not organized and dangerous. No canalization, no waste recycle program, pollution of rivers and air, pollution of the sea, 95 % cannot afford to swim in the sea, no recreation area for the public, worst city after Manila, which is the worst among all Asian cities. No infrastructure of the city! No road program.

Cebu is generally fair as a City. Cebu City Sports Complex is there for wellness and fitness conscious individuals. Malls are accessible and Night Entertainment Hubs are cool.Though when it comes to safety, what I can say is to stay vigilant all the time and be aware of the Non-mendicancy City Ordinance.:P

Cebu it more laid back than Manila. The people are more friendly and they are so very hospitable. The food and entertainment here in Cebu is much more cheaper. Everything is also at reach from the airport to any other destination only take less than an hour not unless you will go outside metro Cebu.

I grow up in this city since 1960, up to the time I get married, I saw the city grow into a mega city, nice and friendly cebuanos are there, entertainment, resorts & beaches are second to none, food is cheap and affordable accommodation. Traffic is manageable, weekend in the beach is more fun.

Nice place to stay ,plenty of foodshops and very affordale, international airport accessible from any point of the city, and seaport are very good, no more bystanders inside the pier area. More safer than 20 years ago, but needs more safety harness

Cebu is safe, but during night time stay away from non-lighted area, and don't let your valuable things unattended. Make sure you have map or guide, if you are a first timer. A week or days you can adapt Cebu. We are friendly. ^_^ see u then.

the city streets are dirty...a lot garbage...there are a lot street kids and beggars both uptown and downtown areas...PUV drivers are generally reckless and temperamental....i think it has lost its glory as queen city of the south...

buy danggit and dried mangoes

skinny dipping in the white sand beaches...

Good place. I've lived there for a month. The people are hospitable. Beware of Some places like squatters area. Some of these places have many criminals. Also beware whenever your in the Pier or Warf. There are many snatchers there.

Very nice place.. buildings are high. It's like you been in a Manila City.. it's my first time when we go there to have a fieldtrip in for our subject.. it is really more fun in cebu city.. i like to go back in cebu and have fun..

Walk with buddy, do not wear exposed expensive jewelry riding a jeepney, people are accomodating and choose the right one if you need help, for assurance ask in people working in department stores or the police
