Madinah is holy city located in the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia. Earlier known as Yathrib, the city’s name was changed to Madinah, meaning ‘the enlightened city’. With a population of about 1,400,000 inhabitants, Madinah is the second holiest city of Islam.
Characterised by a continental climate, Madinah is exceedingly hot in summers, but cool and moderate in winters. Scanty rainfall is received mainly during the period of November to January. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit the place.
The holy city of Madinah has always been revered; today, it has also developed industrially. Apart from tourism, mining, agriculture, chemical and plastic are other components of the economy.
