One most important restriction imposed in Mecca is that Non Muslims are strictly forbidden to enter the holy city of Mecca. People are required to present the proof of being a Muslim and anyone failing to do so is denied to enter and deport from the country as a penalty.

The Pilgrims Enquiry Offices situated on the central ring road area are like Tourist Information centers, but do check their opening times as they are closed at certain hours. Moreover the employees don’t speak English or other languages except Arabic.

During the Haaji period, stampedes and overcrowding causes the killing of hundreds of people. Women should always be accompanied by a male guardian while traveling and wear covered clothing.

Drinking water from normal taps could be hazardous and likely to give you stomach problems. The only safe water available is at the ZamZam well which is now scientifically proven.
