The beginning of the year sees the country celebrate the Chinese New Year. The festivities include colourful parades, fireworks and dragon dances. At this time of the year, China Town is the centre of all festivities.
In May–June, the country takes to racing in the bay waters as they celebrate The Dragon Boat Festival in honour of a Chinese patriot. In September, another interesting Chinese festival is celebrated, the Festival of the Hungry Ghosts.
