Singapore : Events and Entertainment

The beginning of the year sees the country celebrate the Chinese New Year. The festivities include colourful parades, fireworks and dragon dances. At this time of the year, China Town is the centre of all festivities.
In May–June, the country takes to racing in the bay waters as they celebrate The Dragon Boat Festival in honour of a Chinese patriot. In September, another interesting Chinese festival is celebrated, the Festival of the Hungry Ghosts. A platter of delicacies is prepared for the souls of the dead, and they are entertained by performing opera troupes.

The Muslim festival of Ramadan sees the most exotic food stalls come up in the Arab district. The end of Ramadan brings about lots of revelry. Ramadan is almost immediately followed by festivities in Little India with the Hindu New Year, Diwali - the festival of lights.
