Seletar Airport was the 1st international airport of Singapore built in 1928 and was known as the RAF Seletar or the ‘Royal Air Force Station’.
The airport is situated in the north east of the main island and is run by the civil aviation authority of the city of Singapore. The airport operates 24 hours a day and has a single runway with twenty seven aircraft stands.
In 1998 the airport received more than seven thousand five hundred flights but since 2007 the only flights that have been operating from here are the Berjaya Air flights to Redang and Tioman.
There are a number of flying clubs and colleges near the airport such as the Singapore Flying College, the Republic of Singapore Flying Club and the Seletar Flying Club.
The Seletar Aerospace Park will be built in close proximity to the airport and the plan is a proposed increase in length of the runway and space to accommodate bigger aircraft on the airport.
