Other than the Singapore Dollar the major shopping centers and departmental stores accept US and Australian Dollars, Pound and Yen as well.
Automated teller machines or ATMs are abundant in Singapore, and they are the best method for cash withdrawal. Bank transfers generally take weeks, and exchange rates are high. Transfers from commercial services such as Western Union and American Express are more efficient.
At MRT stations and trains you will find signboards warning you about fines for smoking, drinking and other offenses. These warnings are primarily for maintaining order and discipline. It is not advisable to violate them as all MRT stations are watched by several CCTVs.
