Kyongju: Attractions and more...
The Kyongju National Park is one of the best national parks in South Korea, featuring several historical Silla sites in the city. Another interesting place to visit is the Cheomseongdae which is one of the oldest astronomical observatories in East Asia, dating back to the seventh century. This star-gazing tower has been a declared national treasure of the country.
The Kyongju National Museum houses artefacts and items dedicated to the cultural heritage of the country. The artefacts, which include the Emille Bell and various Silla crowns, have been excavated from various historic sites.
Celebrating the region’s history and culture is the Silla Cultural Festival, which is one of the main events of Korea. It features sports events, dances, games, music and much more. The Cherry Blossom Marathon and the Korean Traditional Liquor and Cake Festival are the other well-known festivals in the city.
