Busan, also called Pusan, is the greatest port city in Korea. Home to a population of around 3.5 million inhabitants, it is South Korea’s second largest urban area. It is also regarded as the summer capital of Korea and is the chief cultural and economic centre of the country.
The climate of Busan is of the extreme variety with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid while winters are cold and dry. The city receives heavy rainfall which is distributed evenly. Spring or autumn is the best time to visit for the mild climate and lush vegetation.
The nineteenth century witnessed rapid development in Busan with the first railway line, the Gyeongbu railway being constructed. Today, Busan is regarded as one of the best business cities in Asia with its diversified economy based on textile, marine fisheries and fashion industry.
